Carshalton Interment of Ashes

Interment of Ashes

X Joan Mary Welburn X

Neť Dibdin

23rd January1920 Ė 29th December 2008

Held on 24th January 2009
At All Saints Church, Carshalton

GRACE, mercy and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

Though we are dust and ashes, God has prepared for those who love him a heavenly dwelling place. At her funeral we commended Joan into the hands of almighty God. As we prepare to commit the remains of Joan to the earth, we entrust ourselves and all who love God to his loving care.

But thy loving-kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life : and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

THE Lord is my shepherd :
therefore can I lack nothing.
He shall feed me in a green pasture :
and lead me forth beside the waters of comfort.
He shall convert my soul :
and bring me forth in the paths of righteousness,
for his Name's sake.
Yea, thou I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil : for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff comfort me.
Thou shalt prepare a table before me against them that trouble me :
thou hast anointed my head with oil, and my cup shall be full.

(Psalm 23)

O GOD, make X speed to save us :

O Lord, make haste to help us.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son : and to the Holy Ghost:

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. Alleluia.

Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord :

And let light perpetual
shine upon her.

Eulogy from Raoul

A reading from the Revelation of S. John the divine.

AND I saw a new heaven and a new  earth : for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that over-cometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

(Rev. 21:1Ė7 AV)

Let us pray.

Lord, have mercy upon us :

Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

OUR FATHER, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name.

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, In earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom the power and the glory Amen

Eulogy from Samantha and Genevieve

Show Joan thy merciful love, O Lord : grant her eternal rest.

Show Joan thy merciful love, O Lord : grant her eternal rest.

Thou didst call her to know thy love in earth : and to be numbered among thy children.

Show Joan thy merciful love, O Lord : grant her eternal rest.

Thy Son shall come in glory : to be our judge.

Show Joan thy merciful love, O Lord : grant her eternal rest.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son: and to the Holy Ghost.

Show Joan thy merciful love, O Lord : grant her eternal rest.

The Lord be with you :
And with thy spirit.

Let us bless the Lord
Thanks be to God.

May the souls X of the faithful through the mercy of God rest in peace :

And rise in glory.

THE MAGIC BOX by Florence Hesketh

Written in the style of Kit Wright

I will put in the box
Juice from a mango
Hairs from a cat
Water from the Lombobombo River
A cloud thatís the shape of a bear.
I will put in the box
The scent of gardens when the rainís been falling
And the soft taste of Apple pie
Time from a clock thatís never stopping
A brainís nerve to remember everything
A butterflyís wing thatís colourful and shiny
A daisyís petal like a seed
Mud from a pig thatís smelly too
A unicornís horn with magical tales and stories too
Fairiesí footsteps in the snow
And last, an invisible friend.

The End

We move to the grave for the burial of Ashes

We have entrusted our sister Joan to Godís mercy, and we now commit her mortal remains to the ground : earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust :
in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our frail bodies that they may be conformed to his glorious body, who died, was buried, and rose again for us.
To him be glory for ever.

God of hope, grant that we, with all who have believed in you, may be united in the full knowledge of your love and the unclouded vision of your glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

May the infinite and glorious Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, direct our life in good works, and after our journey through this world grant us eternal rest with all the saints. Amen.
